How to use the calculator
- Set weekly play hours. Drag from 0 to 20 hours a week. Last season’s real hours, if you know them, beat a guess.
- Set the season and the pass. Drag the season from 8 to 12 weeks, and the hours a pass takes from 50 to 200; it starts at 150.
- Compare the two lanes. Buy shows how much of the pass gets finished and how many V-Bucks come back; Skip spends nothing.
- Read the verdict. What the pass really costs this season, and the play rate at which it pays for itself.
What the Battle Pass costs in dollars
Epic’s Battle Pass page prices the pass at 800 V-Bucks and says: “Keep earning XP to unlock up to 800 V-Bucks in the Battle Pass, enough to get the next one at no extra cost.” V-Bucks come in standard packs, and the smallest is exactly one pass:
| Pack | V-Bucks | 800 V-Bucks cost |
|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 800 | $8.99 |
| $22.99 | 2,400 | $7.66 |
| $36.99 | 4,500 | $6.58 |
| $89.99 | 12,500 | $5.76 |
Pack prices: U.S. dollars from Push Square’s report of Epic’s March 2026 price change, a secondary source: Epic’s own pages turned away our automated reads in October 2026. Console and phone stores may price differently.
Is the Battle Pass worth it? The play-rate math
The calculator pays V-Bucks back in proportion to the hours played. Epic estimated 75 to 150 hours for a 2018 pass (as GameRevolution reported it); we found no newer figure, so the hours are yours to set. Over a 10-week season, at each end of that range:
| Hours a week | Pass finished (150 hours) | Really costs (150 hours) | Really costs (75 hours) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 13% | 693 V-Bucks ($7.79) | 587 V-Bucks ($6.60) |
| 5 | 33% | 533 V-Bucks ($5.99) | 267 V-Bucks ($3.00) |
| 10 | 67% | 267 V-Bucks ($3.00) | Nothing: it pays for the next one |
| 15 | 100% | Nothing: it pays for the next one | Nothing: it pays for the next one |
| 20 | 100% | Nothing: it pays for the next one | Nothing: it pays for the next one |
The break-even: over 10 weeks the pass pays for itself from 15 hours a week if it takes 150 hours, and from 7.5 if it takes 75.
A worked example: 4 hours a week
At the calculator’s starting point, 4 hours a week for a 10-week season with 150 hours to finish, your kid plays 40 hours, 27% of the pass. That returns about 213 V-Bucks and leaves 587 V-Bucks as the season’s real cost: about $6.60 of the $8.99. Finishing in 10 weeks takes 15 hours a week.
Skipping costs nothing and earns nothing. The question for your kid is not “is the pass good?” but “will I play enough this season to finish it?”
Fit the pass into the V-Bucks budget
Epic’s Fortnite Crew page listed Crew at $11.99 a month in October 2026, $143.88 over a year, with the Battle Pass, other passes and 800 V-Bucks a month. The rest of the budget (a fixed decision date, one platform, a cap on skins) is in the guide’s four-move V-Bucks playbook, with what to say when the new season drops.
Fortnite’s store also has a regulatory history worth knowing:
$245 million
Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, agreed to pay $245 million to refund consumers over what the FTC called dark patterns and billing practices.

Common questions
How much is the Fortnite Battle Pass in dollars?
800 V-Bucks, which is one $8.99 pack: the smallest standard pack holds exactly 800 (U.S. prices, as reported after Epic’s March 2026 price change). Finished, the pass returns up to 800 V-Bucks, which buys the next one.
How much is 800 V-Bucks in dollars?
$8.99 in the smallest standard pack. Bigger packs make 800 V-Bucks cheaper: about $7.66 in the $22.99 pack of 2,400, $6.58 in the $36.99 pack of 4,500 and $5.76 in the $89.99 pack of 12,500.
How long does it take to finish the Fortnite Battle Pass?
Epic estimated 75 to 150 hours of play for a 2018 pass, and we found no newer figure from Epic. Over a 10-week season that is 7.5 to 15 hours a week.
How many V-Bucks do you get back from the Battle Pass?
Up to 800 V-Bucks for a finished pass, Epic says, the price of the next one; a pass left partway returns less. At 4 hours a week for 10 weeks, with 150 hours to finish, the calculator puts it at about 213 V-Bucks, so the pass really costs about $6.60 of its $8.99.
How much is Fortnite Crew a month?
$11.99 a month on Epic’s site when we read it in October 2026, $143.88 over a year, with the Battle Pass, several other passes and 800 V-Bucks a month. Those 800 V-Bucks alone would cost $8.99 in a pack.
